Garden Center Associate
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Part-time and full-time Garden Center Associate for seasonal (March-November) employment. Duties include basic care and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and plants; greeting/assisting customers in a professional and friendly manner, both in person and on the telephone; and processing sales and returns on point-of-sale software. This position entails outdoor work that requires some lifting and the ability to be on your feet for long periods of time. The ideal candidate must be able to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, be willing to expand their knowledge of plants and their applications, have good math skills, and have a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assist customers with landscaping ideas and plant selection.
- Advise customers about plant care, watering and fertilizing best practices.
- Advise customer about insecticide products and their use.
- General care of plant material (i.e. watering, pruning, labeling) and garden center upkeep and maintenance.
- Display trees, shrubs and accessories in retail garden center.
- Assist with handling telephone calls.
- Use computer to enter and complete sales at checkout.
- Occasionally unload inbound plant deliveries and assist customers with plant and merchandise loading.
HOURS / DAYS / SCHEDULE:
Position is seasonal from March through November. Hours vary. Hours will be based on weather conditions and business needs. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- HS Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of plants and the willingness to learn about plants and landscape.
- Knowledge of local climate and growing conditions a plus.
- Being attuned to popular plant and landscaping trends a plus.
- Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs throughout the day.

Delivery Driver (part-time position)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
If you have a clean driving record, are an area resident, enjoy meeting people and being friendly, we have a job for you.
Our Garden Center offers delivery of trees and shrubs, bulk mulch, and almost anything else we offer for sale. Many of the items we sell simply won’t fit into homeowners’ cars, and they ask us to deliver these items to them. We deliver in any of 5 trucks and usually offer delivery services Monday thru Saturday.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Interact with customers on a professional level.
- Complete and submit delivery records as requested.
- Participate in maintenance of vehicles, equipment; monitor fuel, fluids levels.
- Careful and proper handling of plants and materials.
- Will, at times, be involved in related activities including loading /unloading of plants and materials, equipment and supplies related to landscape and nursery operations.
HOURS / DAYS / SCHEDULE:
Position is seasonal from March thru November. Generally will work 3-5 hours/day, weather permitting, Monday thru Saturdays, based on weather conditions and business needs. Will likely work 15 - 25 hours each week, according to schedule, weather permitting. Overtime paid for hours worked over 40 per week.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- HS Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable transportation to and from Four Seasons.
- Experience in operating heavy single-axle trucks.
- Must be able to operate manual transmission (shift gears).
- Must be able to lift at least 80 lbs throughout the day.
- Must have good work ethic and be responsible for gathering all items to be delivered.
- Knowledge of and experience with plant materials helpful.
- Verifiable good driving record.

- Talk to customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- General care and maintenance of plant materials including watering, pruning, transporting, fertilizing, trimming and weeding of container and field grown plants.
- Unload inbound plant deliveries and assist customers with plant and merchandise load-outs.
- Load customers' vehicles to ensure plants and materials are transported in a safe manner.
- Bag mulch and maintain adequate levels of bagged mulch for retail sales.
- Pot and re-pot plant material as directed.
- Assist with deliveries and other tasks as needed.

- Valid driver's license.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to lift at least 75 lbs throughout the day.
